About

Codie Smith grew up on a farm locally in New Berlin New York. She learned how to ride as soon as she could walk. As she grew up she engaged in many equine organizations. She was an active member of Otsego county 4-h until she was nineteen where she rode western, gymkhana, english, dressage and participated in drill team.

Codie loved competing with my 4-h and discovered that she and her horse excelled in games. So she began competing in local rodeos, barrel racing. In 1996 she qualified and competed in the national high school rodeo in Pueblo, Colorado.

Codie has always had a knack for working with horses. By age 14 she was already gentling and teaching horses to ride from green. She also began teaching other kids to ride which fueled her passion for horses and showed her how she could share this feeling with other people.

She then furthered her equine education by continuing to compete in states such
as Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Maryland while getting her degree at Delhi college in
animal science. She received her veterinary technician degree and licensing. After
receiving her degree in 2000 she began working full time as a vet tech and started
growing her family.

Throughout her career she has continued her education by getting certifications
in Equiassage in 2002 and then her canine rehabilitation certificate in 2016. At that point
she designed and ran the rehab program for a local vet clinic. Shortly after, her children
began to dive more into the equine world and while she loved her time working with
small and large animals it was time to pursue her true passion. In December of 2018 she
and her family moved to their current location in Mount Vision New York. Always
engaged in academic pursuits, Codie looks forward to attaining her goal of becoming
more centralized to equine rehabilitation while sharing her knowledge and love of horses
with others.
